YANKEES!

Opening Day = reclaiming my sewing skills. mended a pair of pants and made a Yankees fleecey pillow case! I think this will be a gift for my grandma, the biggest Yankees fan I know!

I might just need to make another one though...for her favorite grandchild ;) ME!

it's all a blurr...

it's all a blurr...

today was a blurr, but a good one. every initial annoyance turned into something good today. i feel so blessed. a great night last night trying out the happy hour at Good Luck with 'Dre, followed by extra sleep. contemplating another ride and load of laundry. not sure if I have it in my tonight.

from now until May 4th I will be a busy bee with preparations of Final papers, presentations and projects. off to be productive/or athletic, or maybe both!

It's about time

It's about time...
...that papers cease for a week or two, i catch up with sleep, the house gets cleaned and i ride. for my birthday this year I took my birthday money and bought myself a bike trainer...for those of you who are wondering, it's so i can ride my regular bike inside.

tonight i did it, i said the heck with being tired and stressed and feeling like pooh...grab a load of dirty laundry and get on that bike...so i did. laundry basket in hand, laptop strapped to my back, i ventured down to the basement and set up shop. with a load of laundry washing and drying, i cycled my way through a visual race...about an hour of varying intensities and it felt good. i feel alive again. the motion light went off a time or two, but i survived and the laundry is done too. oddly enough, there is a wall mirror downstairs and i felt it was encouraging, especially motivating since i want to loose a few pounds and hopefully not find them again.

that's all for now. the goal is to keep this up, even just an hour a day...4/5 days a week.

Keep on swimming...

I feel like Dori, the little fish from Nemo. She used to sing that "keep on swimming, keep on swimming...." different context, but full speed ahead until May! Midterms cruise into finals, which cruise into summer sessions I, II and 3 weddings and baby visiting :) .

Looking forward to so many things, but more importantly, the little things, even the sunshine, a warm (32degree) day, a boyfriend who brings me food to the library, a friend who let's me squeal over a secret, a milky way bite, spilling my bottle of water in my purse because i didn't even tighten the lid b/c i was gonna drink more soon and it drenching everything including my ipod, yet it still works!

Life is amazing.
Welcome to the world Evelyn. H. C. Can't wait to meet you and see your parents glowing with pride.

More on Japan

Japan...a devastating disaster. the death toll is over 10,000 currently, and rising. A tragedy. It's thrilling when we watch movies live Day After Tomorrow, but it's a different beast when a real natural disaster strikes. What can one person do? And to survive the traumatic event, might even be worse...to see or just know your family and friends have been washed away, your belongings, your home, your whole town. And if the tsunami wasn't enough, the nuclear power plant is giving off radiation and exploding. God give them strength to make it through this hard time, to let some of the relief workers be therapists because lord knows they will be needed. Post-traumatic Stress that occurs from surviving an event like this is almost guaranteed.

Yesterday there was a bomb threat at the Rochester Airport (ROC). No respect for human life...that's all I can say. The poor employees too that had to go through that and wonder if they would see their families again.

Times like these make me want to go to church and look for answers...

changes

a lot of people go through them, everyone in fact, but it's how you deal with them that define you. do you cope well with change? do you accept change with open arms? Or do you kick and scream until you get your own way, wondering why time just won't stay still? i used to be less flexible when it comes to changes, but really isn't LIFE change? some changes are good like a promotion, a healthier lifestyle, new experiences, road trips, a fresh snow that covers all the winter mud. if you're not changing and growing, you're not living. and please don't expect me to always be the same because i hope to continually learn new things and keep redefining myself. it could do us all some good!

current changes:
biking daily...actually buying a bike trainer so I can bike indoors! yay birthday money!
reading everything i can get my hands on
planning a trip to Sweden in June!
babysitting - taking care of actual babies (it's a great learning experience)
making wholesome, quality food to entice our meal options.
getting up earlier to embrace the day
spending money on things that will enhance my life, like the bike trainer, yummy fresh foods, oh and coffee!
