Bethesda
what can i say? it's been so long. i checked my blog only minutes ago, as if hoping that someone would have updated it...only to remember it was MY blog. last night i had a nightmare/weird subconscious-premonition. "Bethesda! Where's Bethesda?! (Andre: What? Maryland, why?)Something bad is going to happen. (Andre: It'll be alright) Something bad is going to happen in Bethesda! (Andre: WHAT! WHAT? What's going to happen?)" I can safely say that Andre was freaked out and I looking back on the situation lacked any control of my own body and felt as though something was channeling through me. who's to know what really happened that night? Thus far, nothing bad has happened in Bethesda.

Oh I love my days off! B'fst with Doe and Kimmie. The yogurt bowl was actually really filling and I didn't eat anything for lunch until almost 3pm! Kimmie and I shopped this morning before we got our nails done because the eye doctor doesn't take my insurance anymore! stupid people. oh well shopping was fun and yet i didn't buy anything! HA.

i've missed you bloggie
I've missed you bloggie. Life's been very good! Minus the migraine that kept me home yesterday, but it was a nice day at home. I slept in, went to the dentist where I discovered that you really DO need to floss - they don't just tell you that for no reason, watched fargo, had some wine and watched veronica guerin. i had never seen fargo and felt as if i was missing out somehow. i love accents, no matter what they sound like! veronica guern was a movie about a journalist in ireland who uncovers drug related crimes and exposes them while having her life threatened. it was really good! you should watch it reader friend.
4 more days until i get to o home for Thanksgiving YAY!!! I can't wait! It will be so nice to be home.
Today was trying at work. the "seaman" told me i should see a doctor for my headaches and acted all concerned, but really i saw right through him and know he just doesn't want me missing a day of work! i'm not stupid. i don't like being told what to do, especially from a male and especially when it's my life and i can do what i want! i've always struggled with controlling my true feelings on ...well...everything.
looking forward to my date with Kim and Doe. going to the gym, then the PF nd then I must get my eyes tested and nails done! i just wish it wasn't starting at 8:30 in the morning! mags and trev are moving away. helping on saturday, sad and mad. happy they are happy but i've missed them for a long time now. our schedules all have been weird. here's to our next date!
an early bedtime tonight, not sure why. 'Dre's tired and wants to read in bed...apparently he forgot the part about me not liking that. oh well, at least there are festival chrstmasy orange lights all around the room. g'night.

just another Sunday...
Facebook stalking. Only do this to your friends and people you would like to be friends with. it should be off limits to your partner's ex's or past sexual encounters. that only leads to an overwhelming feeling of sadness.
about sadness: Boys Don't Cry - a must see, but wow I balled like a baby! So surprising and stole my heart. I haven't cried like that over a movie in a LONG time.
Good day of work. Productive. Looking forward to going home for Thanksgiving. Check out this NPR story and listen to the Tom Waits version of this song that relates to the economy even today:
http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=96654742&sc=emaf
Also listen to this set of songs to spice up the drab workday, my favorite is the one by Indiana: Ordinary Life, http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=95558471&sc=emaf
I love Madonna. Miss my checkpoint crew. "Red" is ok and fun, becoming even. bedtime. nice and early in hopes to wake up earlier and have a little more time to get ready in the morning. good luck me. Bee vs. the alarm clock!

saturday
This photo takes me back! I miss you girls! Tonight was so fun :)A fun filled day of pierogi making, cabbage rolls, stinky cheese and white wine! Very happy with the results too!
Back in P-town I met up with Billy and tickled his nose with vinegared fries cut by 'Dre hopefully! yum. then off to the mall. shut the place down by 9 and it's a good thing or we would have been going home with some bling we couldn't afford! The bar of chocolate capped the night off right with beth and em. have you ever done a shot of chocolate? you can't even imagine. emily learned that sometimes it's just unlining and not a link and i learned that my hair is red, even if i don't think so. it's very difficult to blog with muscle relaxants so i must sign off now. either way at least the excema won't itch. maybe my doctor is crazy, but who cares!
'Dre's home! yay!
Also - the 80s are back. i do not approve of stirrup pants btw. nope, not at all.
forever 21 can keep their racks and racks of them.
why am i always against current fashion (or lack there of)!
ok i think my tonigue and face are numb! night :P

Free Friday for me!
i've decided muscle relaxers are really cool...ok so it's prescribed, but to feel like you can't lift your eyelids - scary and amazing all at once.
gymed it with Kim and Doe, then ate the calories I burned off at Becky's diner!
showered, put my face on and feel like I am ready to face the world, or at least take on my Dr appt. Haircut and maybe some color later today too. YAY. it's gloomy out but I am being productive. Dinner with 'Dre's dad tonight, should be a nice time. he make's a mean chicken curry!

Enjoying the SNL Presidental skits. Gotta love election time.
Top 5 Reasons I am glad the Election is over:
- This election has gone on for over a year!
- Hillary didn't make the cut, but I love her anyway!
- The Democrats call our land line 6X a day, no joke, it's documented.
- President Bush misses Texas
- It'll be great when people stop talking about who they voted for and start talking about anything else and accept the results.
Gotta go, computer battery dying. Over and out friends.

vote
get out and vote.
Why?
Why?
- if for no other reason then to be able to bitch about who DID get in!
- because many people don't have that option!
- women fought a long time to earn the right to vote!
- b/c you don't have to own property anymore to be counted!
- b/c you don't have to be a white male anymore to vote!
- b/c it's kind of exciting in there!
- b/c you are a part of history when you vote
- b/c either way we've made history - either a black male president or a female vice president and that's pretty cool!
- b/c you can't change your mind tomorrow and decide you want to vote
- it's now or you have to wait 4 years! and 4 years is a long time!
- YOU MATTER!
I voted today. I waited in the line. I even disregarded the drunk at Rosie's who told me the election was rigged and soceity and the concecpt of society along with ALL humanity was DOOMED! I told him I tried not to think about those things. I also told him that i I ever did have thoughts like that I pushed them out of my head - that's too deep-weirdo-ness for me! Another beer please!

pay day
oye vey.
paying bills. why do people get so excited for payday just to hand their paycheck over to someone else? this seems a little F'ed up! I felt rich for the morning, but once the payments post, my landlord, doctor and CC companies are going to be the happy ones. Oh well. I make it so I can spend it!
Andre came home with a beautiful bouquet of flowers the other night, it must have been Wednesday or Thursday. Pinks and yellows! flowers make me feel so good. I know they don't last but I still enjoy them.
Random days off again this week. It's been a kinda rough week. No reason in particular, just bumpy. Maybe it's the changing of the seasons, the increased darkness? I went for a long brisk walk last night. I bundled up and booked it all around town and boy did it feel good. Planning on going to the gym today, DSW and target and the new H & M, but I'm not sure if I can get Andre to go shopping for that many stores, especially when they are all in different plazas. Trying to sort through clothes that are never going to fit again for goodwill. Also to make room for the winter clothes and put away the week's laundry. I know, it sounds amazingly fun. Off to be productive...

my days off
Day2 off.
Yesterday was a day of musts; must do laundry, must buy groceries. made beef bouganaise (beef stew but with wine - french). I have enjoyed sleeping in and spending time with 'Dre. I never know what day it is, ever since I have begun my class series at work and they have messed with my RDOs.
Should I be playing kickball when I am worried about snow? does one play kickball in long underwear, winter jacket and hats, gloves and scarf, or is it just like that in Maine?! Kickball and Deweys planned for this evening. Possibly Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Worked on coming up with 20 names of people from my reunion class to contact - harder than you think when the other committee members are in the same group of friends. So I ended up giving around 50 names, so that I could exract 20 people from a list. WOwserz.
Back at it tomorrow. I love the teacing even though it's exhausting. I do wish they would put a little more value on my RDOs though. I do need two and I would like them consecutively. Thank you. I feel guilty for wanting my days off. That's not cool. Might be Monday and Saturday next week, or just Saturday. Grrrrrr.
Things are good on the 4th floor. It's getting quite cold, which makes me not want to leave the house or my bed for that matter. Can't wait until I can use my skiis! A tune up is in order very soon I think. Still trying to push myself to go to the gym and not be a lard a$$. wish me luck.

Saturday/Wednesday
Off today randomly. A beautiful breakfast at Becky's diner. Spent the day around town; LL Bean - got myself a nice new water resistant fleece and something for mom, then headed to the Portland Museum of Art. They sure have a great collection! Got my nails done by Tory and they look great. Getting ready to make dinner with Andre and watch a movie. Maybe even make something sweet for tomorrow's class. Gotta go my baby is actually home with me all day today! YAY

Fall is here
So I am suddenly addicted to my blog. Most likely due to the fact that i spend a lot of time with moi, me, solo. That's ok, it has given me uddels of time to think and be creative with my time alone. Gearing up for he latest series of classes. Two a week starting tomorrow, 2 days each. Looking forward to it and also umm...nervous slightly. Studying the material tonight, as ell as making my lunch and having a damn drink!
I made an appearance at the gym tonight. 2.5 miles on the treadmill. A decent showing considering it's been 4 weeks! I get so down on myself and don't even want to walk in the door, let alone see a mirror. Today I turn over a new leaf. no more cheese fries - I did it all of September - and more fresh foods, 'cause we all know I am not giving up beer.
I made a really cool belt last night with bottle caps - just micro brews that Andre likes (I like them too, but it was a gift to Andre). He liked it and I was quite pleased with the end result. Also working on a purse made from recycled materials I have around the house. Should really get on with my evening though. The orange/pink lights look awesome in the bedroom and give a really nice glow to everything. :)

happy fall
Hello Fall!
Feeling like I might need to purchase a winter coat within the week. It's been dipping down to the 30's at night. Breakfast at Bintliff's with 'Dre, Mags and Trev. I felt very adult - it's a classy joint. Got to walk the new puppy pug Atticus! SO adorable! Who doesn't love a snuggly puppy? A nice morning with 'Dre and our friends. My CD burner is not working properly, so that makes me a little irked. I want it to work! Trying to burn a picture CD for Mags and Trev from their wedding. Headed to Matt and Amy's for a last of the season BBQ. YAY! It's pretty crisp out there today. Looking forward to getting a few things done around the house today too. Picture: us from our last BBQ, our first one together, just the two of us, at Portland Head Light. Later Gators!

Rant!
Trying to stay positive in a world that's trying to test me. Do not mess with my RDOs (regular days off)! Why would anyone assume that I want to work my days off or only have one and take OT (overtime)? Sure, I like money as much as the next person, but sometimes time is more valuable. I wish people did not assume that I have no life UGH! pisses me off! I am trying to deal with my constantly changing schedule, however it tries my temper. The worst part is that they don't care if this upsets me and I am the only one qualified to teach one of the classes, so I have to be at all of them!
Ya know what else gets me...the DEM committee - please don't call my house 6 times a day until the election and hang up every time you get the machine. This is frustrating. It almost makes me want to not vote for them. Let's be clear, I don't know who I am voting for yet. I frankly don't like either choice which turns me off to the whole process. I was for Hill, but apparently that didn't work out so well... This is one of two days off that I will have in a row until at least Thanksgiving. I promised the DEMs I would help them today for a few hours and on the 28th for a few hours, but they always want more. I am frankly only going because I promised I would 'cause at this point I am more annoyed than inspired right now.
This photo of palm trees makes me happy. It reminds me of being in LA and starting my new job and meeting some amazing new people. We don't have trees like this in Maine! or NY for that matter! The sun is shining and I need to turn my mood around! Lay-tah!

sept-tober
September was a blurr.
gone half the month on business. DC is really warm in comparison to Maine. met some great people, pushed the limits, pushed myself, got pushed, laughed cried and mostly clapped! i left a part of me with each of those amazing people and i took something from them as well. experience, risks, take chances, don't worry so much, laugh, love, enjoy, work hard, play hard, spread the message, keep the fire alive and pump up the energy and mostly never forget. many things cannot be repeated, some things must stay in Virginia and that's ok. i have never felt so supported, loved or wanted before. i have never felt so strong and soft at the same time.
On to October. i came home with a passion that I never allowed myself to feel. sometimes the walls we build can hurt us by protecting us too much. i so enjoy fall. Andre and i went apple picking and picked out a pumpkin, have enjoyed sleeping in and just spending time together. kickball has been great! Thursdays I feel like I am instantly accepted by my team and look forward to the Halloween party.
torn on the election. i am currently a fence sitter. i agree with both parties on some things. why can't life be like it was in hallowell. simple. money has halted or so it seems, late payments mean increased APR. thankfully my baby gets out early tonight between 5 and 8 I hope. T is back for a quick weekend before she moves abroad, M and T have a puppy and a condo and Dre wants to talk about working on the apartment. need more time to do things around the house, eczema is getting in the way of me getting things done. too much stuff in this house...clutter is killing me! volunteering at 2.

here and there
I hate when people try to bring me down. why is it that som people try their hardest to make other people feel badly? it's not nice.
stomach hurts.
wishing maine was closer to new york right now. 4 years in maine this august...by have i had good times, learned life lessons, grown, matured, grained weight, lost weight, gained weight, lost tonsils, gained a bunny and a wonderful boyfriend who is my best friend, lost great grandparents, got a promotion and a boss who is great. friends, memories, new experiences...
new york...sometimes just a memory. mostly just a memory. a phone call away, an 8 hour drive, a 4 day trip minimum, family. small town USA. oh to go back in time, i'd freee frame senior year of high school. ski instructing, close friends, close family, jeff came with me to prom, wonderful times, the nice house, windchimes, taking off during studyhalls, not a care in the world. those were the days.

sacrifices
Feeling like things are improving. So quickly you can get in over your head. everyone is leaving. the end of an era. the beginning of new friendships. stress inc, overtime inc., debt dec., quality time ?, contact hours dec.
it's a give and take. sacrifices which will hopefully pay off.
time will tell.
need to rest my head(ache)

my day
today is one of my days off. i always feel like i need to spend them wisely, yet research how i am going to spend it for far too long and am forced to make a decision. today i took the ferry and biked around an island in Maine. it wasn't a strenuous ride, but quite quaint. i definitely could feel the results of the physical activity and quickly realized how out of shape i have become over the last 4 to 6 years. but let's focus on the positive; it was a beautiful day and i enjoyed it, while being healthy.
it's come to the part of the day where i try to clean the loft and reorganize the odds and ends that make up our life. good luck me.

realizations
i just realized that i think i have a booty. if you are running on the treadmill and can feel your butt...i think that means you are booty-licious. damn!
and CC advances might be evil, but necessary.

smile. breath. breath. breath.
everything starts today.
life is full of chanllenges that only make us stronger if we choose to battle on. sometimes we have choices. sometimes our fights are our destiny.
must keep swimming. must keep swimming.

when portland goes nyc on your arse
As I was settling into bed last night, I heard a noise similar to fireworks, however there was just one long pop that echoed through the streets. That's odd, since when someone sets off firecrackers there are usually a few popping sounds. A trypical Old Port Brawl gone ugly. http://www.wgme.com/News/story_video/playFlashVideo.shtml?WGME_newsn

my last few days of 25...
I applied for a few new positions at work, both would include a pay raise. One said I was well qualified, the other said application being reviewed. I kinda feel like the easier position is giving me a slap in the face because all it says is application received. ugh. i hate application processes.
In other news, I'll be 26 next week. what's so cool about 26? Hence why I'd like to stay 25. Trying to psych myself up for 26 by making my birthday party a theme party. It'll be a "26 pieces f flare" prty, which should prove to be at the very least...amusing and make for some interesting photos.
Had an amazing time in Boston, even if it was only 24hours. We don't visit our friends down there enough, it's really not all that far of a drive, let's you get out of town and proves for an amazing time every time. happiness.
Going back and forth about where to move next and what my next career move will be. Should I move closer to my folks or to a city where there will be lots to do. is there a happy medium? let me know jw if you do.
In other news, I'll be 26 next week. what's so cool about 26? Hence why I'd like to stay 25. Trying to psych myself up for 26 by making my birthday party a theme party. It'll be a "26 pieces f flare" prty, which should prove to be at the very least...amusing and make for some interesting photos.

semester craziness
this semester is going to be nuts. have i mentioned that. very excited for my class but this upper level psych class is a lot more independent with the professor expecting us to know when things are do...like reading the syllabus all by ourselves. hehe. i know it sounds crazy but it's been awhile since I've been in college. why am i aways that silly freshman girl too. first day of classes this term, didn't know where my class was. went to the library to look up the location and the librarian had to help me. I said do you know what CC stands for? (since it wasn't defined on the website). she said CC stands for Campus Center and that's where we are now dear. great.
ever since i got sick i've lost the quick sacrastic flow to my blog...
